Macro Val's Healthy Cooking Classes

Chef Val will continue offering cooking classes online, using Zoom, plus classes in her home in Westland.

You can learn about healthy, whole foods in the comfort of your own home, even if you don't live close enough to attend a class. Zoom is easy to use, you do not even need to sign up for an account.

This is the perfect opportunity for anyone who lives too far to attend a class in person

Think you have to give up taste for health? Think again.

Chef Val has created meat-free, dairy-free, sugar-free recipes that you will actually enjoy eating. When you attend a Macro Val Cooking Class you will learn not only how to prepare vegetarian dishes, you will learn the benefits of each ingredient and proper cutting techniques as well.


How Zoom works:

  • Choose which class(es), listed below, you wish to attend, and pay the fee using the Add To Cart button.
  • On the day of the class, you will receive an email with the recipe and a link to the Zoom cooking class.
  • If you have not used Zoom before, when you click on the link you will be asked to download a Zoom file. This file enables you to use Zoom, but you will not be asked to sign up to Zoom.
  • In order to be sure everyone is connected on time, please click the link and join the class 15 minutes before it starts.

You can participate in the cooking class without having your camera on. You will see the cooking class, but no one will see you.

You will be able to ask questions during cooking class using the chat feature.
There will be time at beginning of class and end of class for all to communicate. During the class instruction all students will be muted to ensure everyone can hear Val clearly.


Use the "Add to Cart" button after the class description to sigh up for the class.

Wednesday, September 8 - Cubed Millet and Tempeh Salad
6:30 to 7:30 PM - $20.00 - Through Zoom
Millet is the signature whole grain of late summer. In this class you will learn this unique way of preparing the millet in cubes. Adding tempeh, vegetables, and a creamy dressing makes the perfect meal.

Wednesday, September 15 -In Person Gilling Outdoors Cooking Class in September - last one of the year!
5:30 to 8:00 PM - $55.00 - At Chef Val's house
Chef Val's outdoor grilling cooking classes are her most popular. Taught outdoors on her back patio, she will be grilling outdoors. Class will feature new grilling recipes, and a special grilled dessert.

Wednesday, September 22 - Sweet and Sour Cucumber Quinoa Salad
6:30 to 7:30 PM - $20.00 - Through Zoom
Using naturally fermented sauerkraut, Chef Val will teach how to make a refreshing salad featuring cucumbers and quinoa. Once made, this colorful salad will be a complete meal.

Wednesday, September 29 - Millet, Green Olive, Water Chestnut Salad
6:30 to 7:30 PM - $20.00 - Through Zoom

The perfect late summer meal featuring whole grain millet. The green olives give the salad the wonderful salty taste and the water chestnuts add a bit of crunch.
