Macro Val's Healthy Cooking Classes

Chef Val will continue offering cooking classes online, using Zoom, plus classes in her home in Westland.

You can learn about healthy, whole foods in the comfort of your own home, even if you don't live close enough to attend a class. Zoom is easy to use, you do not even need to sign up for an account.

This is the perfect opportunity for anyone who lives too far to attend a class in person

Think you have to give up taste for health? Think again.

Chef Val has created meat-free, dairy-free, sugar-free recipes that you will actually enjoy eating. When you attend a Macro Val Cooking Class you will learn not only how to prepare vegetarian dishes, you will learn the benefits of each ingredient and proper cutting techniques as well.

Valentine's day is when you cook for your loved ones special dishes from your heart. Many people love Stuffed Cabbage but want to make a healthy version. This recipe features brown rice and tempeh with a carrot sauce. This is a complete meal with complex carbs, protein, good fats and lots of vegetables, plus a healthy dessert.

Burdock Root Cooking Class - Traditional Kinpira and Burdock Soup
Thursday, Feb. 20 - 6:00 to 7:30 PM (ET)
$36.00 Virtual through zoom.
You get the recipes ahead of class to cook along in your own kitchen.

Burdock root purifies the blood, strengthens your blood, improves your overall strength and is fantastic for your skin and hair. Known for it strong earthy flavor, it has one of the best winter flavors to add to soups and sautés. Kinpira is a traditional Japanese dish that features toasted sesame oil and tamari for a rich flavor.

How Zoom works:

  • Choose which class(es) you wish to attend, and pay the fee using the Add To Cart button.
  • On the day of the class, you will receive an email with the recipe and a link to the Zoom cooking class.
  • If you have not used Zoom before, when you click on the link you will be asked to download a Zoom file. This file enables you to use Zoom, but you will not be asked to sign up to Zoom.
  • In order to be sure everyone is connected on time, please click the link and join the class 15 minutes before it starts.


You can participate in the cooking class without having your camera on. You will see the cooking class, but no one will see you.

You will be able to ask questions during cooking class using the chat feature.
There will be time at beginning of class and end of class for all to communicate. During the class instruction all students will be muted to ensure everyone can hear Val clearly.
